Importance of a morning journal
Journaling especially in the morning is such a great way to prepare and focus your mind. Checking in with yourself helps you to prioritize and accomplish your goals, sort through your feelings, and sets you on the right path to start the day.
As soon as we open our eyes, the minds start racing and we’re back on the hamster wheel. Journaling helps to slow us down and sort through all our thoughts in an organized way!
Morning journal prompts are ideas that help guide the journaling process. Sometimes we want to write but can be at a lost on what exactly to write about.
You can journal about anything you choose. Your feelings, goals, family, intentions, you name it! You can write about whatever comes to mind!
When we are intentional about how we want to spend our day, the person we want to be, and the things we want to accomplish, it helps us remain in control and be aware of how we react and respond.
The below morning journal prompts will help you when you feel stuck!
Here is a great 5-minute gratitude journal that will also be helpful.

- Mental Dump/ Mental Health – A lot of times we wake up still carrying the same worries, anxieties, and fears from the night before. Journaling is a great way to mentally dump all your emotions down on paper. You might be shocked at how much lighter you feel by getting your thoughts on paper.
- Slowing down – The mornings can be so chaotic for many of us! We rush out of bed, get ready, grab something to eat and out the door we go. We are then in a rushed state of mind throughout the day. What if we slowdown and get intentional about the day we want to have? Some people use journaling as a form of meditation!
- Better Person – When your able to collect your thoughts and write down the person you want to be think how beneficial that will be for you, your children, spouse, co-workers or anyone else you encounter.
- Clarity– It way easier to reach your goals when you are clear about the steps you are taking to get there.
- Self-reflection – they say hindsight is 20/20. To be able to reflect and see how far you have come a year, a week, and sometimes just days before is so great.
